
District administrators and the school board recognized the school district employees that are retiring recently. All of these staff members have contributed to making the Hanover Public S.D. a great place for students to learn. Another great year in the world of ARty (Accelerated Reader)! Scores soared with the addition of Renaissance Place, the web-based version of Accelerated Reader, to all schools! On June 3rd and June 4th elementary students who achieved record points in each school received trophies at the all-school assemblies. Congratulations to these fourth graders! Who will be the ARty Achievers next year????

Jim McMahon and Bonnie Nail were recognized at a luncheon this week at the York Fair grounds. Each year the Hanover Area Association of Retired Teachers recognizes a professional staff member and support staff member from one of four area schools that go over and beyond the call of duty. Jim is a reading specialist at HMS and Bonnie is a teaching assistant working primarily with the ELL students at HHS. Both have done an outstanding job this year and have made a tremendous impact on many students.

Students from the York College (chemistry society) and Professor Halligan, recently visited 6th grade at the Middle School and conducted liquid nitrogen experiments. A few of the experiments conducted were freezing and smashing balloons, flowers, and bananas, making ice cream and learning about ideal gas laws.

She is pictured winning a medal at the PIAA State Track & Field Championships last week as she cleared a new personal record height of 5'2" in high jump to achieve 8th place.
